This film pre-dates the Mitchell & Kenyon films by a full 2 years. In it, we see the hustle and bustle of St. Patrick's Street, Cork City at the dawn of the 20th Century. Most notably, the Cork electric trams, introduced just over a year before, in December 1898, can be seen gliding along the thoroughfare surrounded by a large variety of horse-drawn vehicles. The trams, which were discontinued in 1931 due to competition from the internal combustion engine, are seen for the first time since then in their original livery, green and cream. The film has been stabilised, cleaned, given a frame rate boost and colourised. The results do lose some detail, but offer something that is perhaps closer to the real scene as it happened over 120 years ago.
