Remembering Cork's Carnegie Free Library, 100 years on

Cork's Carnegie Free Library was located on Anglesea Street, just behind the City Hall.  It was destroyed by fire on the night of December 11th 1920, just one of many buildings that burned to the ground on that infamous night. This one is perhaps particularly special because, unlike many others, it was never rebuilt. It lives now only in pictures and words and perhaps a few very distant memories. Here, we see it as it looked before and after. Cleaned and colourised.
